A very special opportunity to see The Hay Wain Come and see Constable’s iconic The Hay Wain while hearing the fascinating story behind one of the major projects celebrating the artist’s 250th birthday. Curator, speaker and researcher Emma Roodhouse takes us behind the scenes of Constable 250, sharing the research process for how she wrote Constable 250: A Cast of Characters, how to curate three exhibitions, collaborate on a two-day conference and help move move world-famous paintings – all in this special anniversary year. Emma will also explore the planning and curation behind the exhibitions, offering an insider’s perspective on the team it takes to create a major programme celebrating one of Suffolk’s most famous artists. Emma has curated numerous exhibitions for Colchester and Ipswich Museums, including Landscape Rebels: Turner, Constable and Monet (2022), Creating Constable (2021) and Made in Suffolk: Ed Sheeran (2019). The Hay Wain leaves Ipswich on 4 October, don’t miss out! Please note: this event is different to the printed programme schedule. Unfortunately, Susan Owens was unable to join us this year.
