Fabienne Ambuehl

Tickets £16/£15 concs , show 7.30pm “Thrive exudes such all-round positive energy which is difficult to escape from, let alone want to” writes Robert Fischer from Jazzthetik Magazin.  Known for her vibrant contemporary jazz, weaving together elements of poetry and storytelling, Ambuehl’s latest album Thrive (2025) won “Jazz Recording of The Year” at the 2025 Presto Music Awards.  With fluid, expressive piano playing and emotive vocals, her sound is lyrical and rich in detail, drawing inspiration from poetry, urban life and the natural world. The debut album Glitterwoods (Traumton, Berlin), was named ‘Album of the Year’ by UK Vibe and she has since performed with different artists internationally, including a musical residency in Senegal funded by Arts Council England and appearing as the improvising soloist with Jazzchor Freiburg at the Eurovision Choir contest in Riga, Latvia. The music of the London-based, Swiss-born pianist, singer and composer receives widespread acclaim from the international jazz press.  Fabienne Ambuehl leads a quartet featuring some of the UK’s most in-demand jazz musicians. The quartet’s performances are engaging and energetic. The band will present the music from Thrive as well as some brand-new material from their upcoming album to be released later in the year.  Together with her virtuoso quartet, she creates a concert experience that is as sensitive as it is powerful. With compelling rhythms and influences ranging from blues and Brahms to The Beatles, the band creates a sound that is daring yet intimate, and truly its own.  Tom Ollendorff, guitar  Tom Farmer, bass  Jon Scott, drums “Ambuehl crafts a mesmerising soundscape that seamlessly blends songs and instrumentals…the album sounds terrific and delivers an impressively immersive musical experience”. ****Jazzwise Magazine UK, Peter Quinn  “Ambuehl’s vocals are crystal clear, distinct and refreshingly free of jazz clichés, making them equally suited to the classic or folk realm.” Neil Duggan All About Jazz UK  “With Thrive, Ambuehl poses somewhat of a triple threat as a fine pianist, wonderful singer and a composer of note.” Nick Lea, Jazzviews UK  “Thrive exudes such all-round positive energy which is difficult to escape from, let alone want to… something has flourished and blossomed here.” Robert Fischer, ****Jazzthetik Magazine Germany  “Above all, this is a different, innovative kind of music – full of freedom, breath and ease… a thematic interweaving that isn’t afraid to improvise with abandon. A wonderful album – we are thrilled!” Jacek Brun, Jazzfun Germany  www.fabienneambuehl.com  www.fabienneambuehl.bandcamp.com  www.youtube.com/@fabienneambuehlmusic  www.instagram.com/fabienneambuehl
