The Dicky Shanty Festival – The Royal Oak, East Bergholt

Ahoy, music lovers! Gather your crew for an afternoon of sea shanties, delicious food and spirited fun as The Dicky Shanty Festival comes to The Royal Oak in East Bergholt on Sunday 20 September 2026, from 1pm to 6pm.

Enjoy a Sunday afternoon with a nautical twist, featuring live performances from Three Folks, Roughedge Carousers, Black Deep Shanty Crew and Myles. Whether you’re a seasoned shanty fan or simply looking for something a little different, come along and soak up the music.

The live music programme will keep your toes tapping throughout the afternoon:

• 1pm–1.30pm: Three Folks
• 1.30pm–2.15pm: Roughedge Carousers
• 2.15pm–3pm: Black Deep Shanty Crew
• 3pm–3.30pm: Myles
• 3.30pm–4.15pm: Roughedge Carousers
• 4.15pm–5pm: Black Deep Shanty Crew

Bring your appetite, too! Food on offer includes wood-fired pizza from Miss Margarita, authentic Thai food, handmade pies, Scotch eggs and sausage rolls from Pie N Puds, and traditional baked potatoes from Jacket Potato Company.

There’s more than music to enjoy, with a closest-to-the-pin competition, tug of war and welly wanging adding a little friendly competition to the day. Fancy showing off your aim or putting your pulling power to the test? Here’s your chance!

An optional £3 ticket helps support the performing musicians and includes entry into the prize draw. Ask at the bar for details.
