Vinyl Sessions: Goat – Requiem

Tickets £4 12pm, show starts at 12:30pm The bar will be open throughout. Goat / Requiem You know what the world needs more of? Swedish alternative rock groups who perform in masks to conceal their identities and describe themselves as descendents of a Scandinavian voodoo cult, while making music that combines frazzled 60s/70s psychedelia with elements of freak folk and space-age funk. Well, for now at least, we’ve got Goat. Despite the heavy title, the collective’s third album is a sprawling, groovy and often sprightly delight, with crunchy fuzz-tone guitar for days, hypnotic percussion to spare and passages of languid grooves that are a detox for your brain. If you’ve ever lamented the mediocrity of modern rock and felt moved to complain that ‘They don’t make records like they used to’, then join our (metaphorical) stone circle gathering and find out first-hand that they absolutely do. The album playback will be followed by a Q&A session. After a short break, we'll follow the album with our usual ‘Dead Wax’ session. Bring along a vinyl disc of your choice and hear a track from it played through the Arts Centre PA. This can be anything you like, for any reason – the more ‘out there’ the better.
